Located on 110 acres of pristine inner city land, Victoria Park Golf Complex is one of Australia’s best public courses. This 18 hole, par 63 is equipped with challenging tees and fairways and offers a spectacular combination of scenic views and undulating greens all designed to test the skill of even the most experienced golfer.
HISTORY OF THE GOLF COURSE
During the 1920s, municipal golf courses were being established throughout Australia, enabling broader access to the game.
In 1922, the Queensland Golf Association first approached the Mayor of Brisbane, William Alfred Jolly, with the idea of establishing a nine hole municipal course at Victoria Park.
It wasn’t until 1926 that the Greater Brisbane Council accepted the proposal. This opportunity came after a section of Victoria Park, reserved since 1906 as the site for a new University of Queensland, opted to build on land at St Lucia.
The course and clubhouse were opened in November 1931.
